We want people to shift away from owning things to sharing things. To do this we need to trust our members and be trusted by them We are a community group and not here to make money from our membership, however we may have to charge you for late returns, damage, missing parts, or not cleaning things but in general we prefer not to do this. This because we want you to feel confident that by borrowing things it doesn’t lead to an unpleasant shock for fair wear and tear.
That said, we rely on people not to abuse our service, which we operate for the benefit of members and people in the community. Rather than charge people you may be asked to book things out again to clean things properly that have been returned in a dusty or dirty state, replace lost parts or to retrieve containers and packaging we rely on to keep our stock safe.
Tools can be returned with fair wear and tear, which is just the deterioration of things from proper use, which is incurred by using the item for the purpose it was intended. We refer to damage as being caused by improper use of the tools
We are a membership organisation and rely on members joining for an appreciable length of time. So may also make charges where our ‘fair use’ hasn’t been respected e.g. membership is opened for a single month and then cancelled. Where this happens we may charge you as if you have borrowed from a library of things, plus a fee of £25.
Late return – one off admin fee £25, plus daily rate of £15 per day or part day, for late return of any item or part of an item.
Should the item not be returned after 14 days there is a charge of £25 plus the cost of the replacement of the item as well as any daily fees.
Please remember to inform us immediately if something you have borrowed has got missing parts or isn’t working when you picked it up.
